Our Wedding!!

I had the absolute best time at our wedding. I am so pleased with how everything turned out. I wouldn't change a thing! And now that I've been through my own wedding, I am assured that I will be the perfect fit for the weddings that I'm coordinating this coming year! I can now put myself in the bride's shoes and know the emotions that she is going through and am happy to be that one person that can alleviate the stress and be assistance at the wedding so she can enjoy her day as a bride!

I haven't received the photographers pictures yet, but here's one that a friend took! What a fun, amazing and perfect day! I'm so happy that I am now married to my best friend and wake up next to him every morning - it's a dream come true!

DIY - Dessert/Beverage Napkins

I never planned on getting napkins made because it's not in my budget to spend $75-100 on 300 napkins. My reception site provides napkins and that would work for me... until... I stumbled upon this craft on WeddingBee and thought it was too cute and simple to pass up!
1. I made up a design with a seller on Ebay (he lives in Malaisa I found out) http://stores.shop.ebay.com/loongchai74__W0QQ_armrsZ1
My stamp cost $5.50 and the shipping was $2.00
2. I bought water-proof and dye resistant ink from Hobby Lobby for $2.99 (50% week!) and then packs of 50 napkins from Hobby Lobby for $1.99
3... I stamped away!

Total Price = $22.50
Cost per Napkin = 7 cents

DIY - Water Bottle Labels

This is a little thing I'm doing just for fun. Not necessary at all ... but just a fun touch on the day of the wedding! The bridal party will have access to these water bottles before the ceremony.

Calligrapher - Amazing Prices!

Want to add a little touch to your invites but found that the price of a calligrapher is just ridiculous? Well.. I've got the person for you :)

My calligrapher is a full time teacher but enjoys the art of calligraphy on the side. She charges 25-50 cents per envelope (most people charge a $1-$3 per envelope). Ask me for her email address and so you two can talk!

She sent me a few made-up samples of fonts she does... I am going with this one. I think it's beautiful!

DIY - Favor Bags

We are going to have bubblegum balls in a big glass vase at the exit of the reception. So, we needed favor bags. And being Brigette - I wanted to make them!

1. I went to Michaels with my 50% off coupon and bought two 50 packs of organza white bags for $10 a set.
2. You also need white ribbon ( the same color and width as the ribbon on the bag), super glue, two colors of paper, a whole punch (either 1/16th hole punch or 1/8th punch), and a die cut of whatever you want (I used 1 and 1/2 inch scallop edge), and a monogram stamper (can be purchased for $12 at Hobby Lobby with 50% off or you can print off your letters.. whichever!)
3. Take your die cut and cut out however many circles you want for your bags.
4. Stamp your die cut
5. Glue the backing color to the stamped paper.
6. Hole punch the top of the scallopped edged papers.
7. Lace ribbon through hole.
8. On the right side of the organza bag with be a tied bow and a loop touching the bag. Pull out the loop (which will in turn make the other side's tied bow come in) and put the laced ribbon through it.
9. Super glue the two ends.
10. Your done! By putting the monogram around the loop, the monogram will go to the center when your guests close their bags!

Total Cost= about $35
Price per bag = 35 cents (I only made 100 because there's normally not very many people left by the end!)

DIY - Bridesmaids' Hangers

I love love love making crafts! And, since I send this blog to potential Bride-to-Be clients, I thought these crafts might be useful.

A Fun, Cheap, Bridesmaid Gift:
Monogrammed Hangers
1. I got 2 packs of IKEA white, wood hangers. They are like $3 a pack, or something like that.
2. Find a font that you like on Word and print it off in size 100 or s0.
3. Cut out the letters in a box.
4. Color the back of each letter with a pencil.
5. Place the penciled side on the hanger with the printed letter facing you. Tape the paper in place.
6. Outline the letter with a pencil.
7. When you remove the paper, there will be an outline of the letter. Go over/color in the letter with a permanent market.

And VOILA! You are finished!! And then they can have beautiful hangers to place their beautiful bridesmaids dresses on.

Bride's Testimony about Brigette...

The first time I met Brigette, I knew we would be in good hands for expecting things at our reception to run very smoothly. With her bubbly & sweet personality, her charm definitely added even more excitement over the planning and execution of our ideas for the reception. She appeared just as excited as we were about the plans and decorations; it was very reassuring and helped ease the stress of pulling together an event as big and extravagant as a wedding reception, especially because almost all of the décor for our venue was “do-it-yourself”. Also, knowing that Brigette is also a bride-to-be helped convince me that she was the perfect person to help us with the Day-of-Coordination task, since she’d ensure that things went off without a hitch and understood the pressure & expectations of being a bride who wants things to be perfect.

Aside from the positive first impression from our initial consultation, Brigette was also very prepared and thorough with the questions about details and had an inquiry packet that brought many issues to our attention that we hadn’t even thought about yet. Having the questions posed at that time really helped us to address some un-finished tasks that we had overlooked, and it was nice to have a fresh perspective to help us figure out many of the “behind-the-scenes” duties that still needed to be delegated. We also worked out a mock layout of the reception venue and where each thing would be placed, which also helped us plan out our strategy when we were able to set up things the night before the wedding.

Upon my arrival at the reception venue on the wedding day, I was glad to see that the family members who we planned to have announced were waiting for us in the lobby, along with Brigette, and she was ready to roll and get everyone in order for our grand arrival! She looked wonderful and had a smile on her face, which of course I expected. Since we had a choreographed “first dance”, she also helped me ensure that the DJ would be ready at the correct time to start our song, and suggested a casual signal for me to use, which worked great.

During the reception festivities, Brigette was very considerate and came up to let me know we were a little behind schedule for the “donation dance” and asked if I needed more time to eat, instead of just moving forward as planned. Since the groom hadn’t even sat down to touch his food, it was a much needed time-adjustment and she quickly took on the task at getting the groom to the head table. I’m sure I complained to her several times about being so hot, and she would nod and let me know they were working on it handling my complaints very well, even though I understood there wasn’t much anybody could do about the temperature.

When it was time to do things like the cake-cutting & champagne toasts, Brigette was right on point with hunting down the groom (who was trying to disappear to socialize often) and making sure he made his way to the right places. The groom told me later that she came up to him to get him ready for cake-cutting, and he asked for 20 more minutes, she gave him a little puppy-dog-frown face and was so cute he couldn’t say “no” to that face!!

Since our venue was rented with a certain number of hours arranged, we needed to have everyone out or close to being finished with clean-up around 7 pm. Although it took a while to get the groom up to the front door, Brigette did an awesome job at getting all the guests outside and ready for the grand exit, with bubbles in hand and a line of folks ready to wish us off! We pretty much ran on time for the exit, even though some of the other events in the beginning were a little behind, so I’m very thankful that we were able to have our exit on time and ensure we wouldn’t use extra time at the venue and risk an additional charge. Also, she was able to get the folks organized quickly to help with the dismantling & clean-ups, which I was told was a quicker process than it took to setup the night before.

Overall, Brigette went above and beyond the expectations I had for a “Day-of-Coordinator” and although I didn’t think we needed such an assistant in the beginning of our wedding planning, I’m so happy that she was there to help us! I’m honestly not very confident that things would have run so smoothly & on time if it weren’t for her help with hunting down the groom and getting us in the right places at the right time. I didn’t realize how chaotic the whole event would seem to me as a bride, and I didn’t even have to think about what came next or where I should be, since I had such a great DOC to remind me while my mind was racing. I will be forever grateful to have had Brigette as a part of our special day, and I will certainly recommend her services for any wedding, big or small! When it comes to organizing and executing a precise set of plans, you can never have enough help, and Brigette was certainly a big part of the success of our wedding reception!

A Little Bit About Myself

Hi! My name is Brigette (spelt the French way) and I live in Texas. I went to Texas A&M University, in College Station, where I studied Communication and Journalism. I originally thought I wanted to go into the news field upon graduation, working as a news broadcaster; however, the Lord started to show me that there were other things He was forming my heart to be.

Throughout my schooling, I had the privilege to intern at NBC in Dallas, KBTX News Station in College Station and as Public Relations intern at a Financial Office in Plano. It was at NBC that I realized what I really was interested in. I interned in the Marketing Department and was given the task of formulating commercials, writing the script, coming up with the images and editing the final 30-second spot. I loved having my own baby to create and accomplish. I loved putting things together and organizing how pieces would form together to make a masterpiece! Thus, event coordinating is an awesome big version of this passion!

Since my graudation, I have earned my teaching certifcation for early childhood through fourth grade, as well as worked in sales.

I am engaged to be married in December to my high school sweetheart. We are so very excited to finally tie the knot after 4.5 years! He is in youth ministry and is an awesome man that I am glad to have as my other half for the rest of my life!

Oh, and I have the cutest puppy ever! His name is Champ! And he really is the most snuggly puppers ever :) Love him soo much!!

I hope that this gives you a little bit of a taste of where I come from and who I am!!

Erin and her mother are excellent Do-It-Yourselfers! Her mother purchased all the table cloths and chair covers, as well as the centerpieces and candles. They found that renting these items was far more expensive so they ventured out and made it all themselves, and they did a remarkable job! They got several complements on what a beautiful job they did! I am happy that I was able to complete the day by being the coordinator for the evening. Thank you for allowing me to be included in your big day, Erin and Mike!

I am officially coordinating weddings on my own now! Please contact me if you need an extra hand for the weekend-of!!
